The Evolution of Payments
Please join us on April 26th 2018 as Sharon Swedko and Kevin Gonyea from Global Payments Canada present on the Evolution of Payments – a technical perspective on where we’ve come from and where we are going.
Sharon has spent over 20 years in the payments industry and is currently Global Payments Canada’s Senior Manager in charge of Business Development. Sharon began working with Visa on the issuing side of the business before moving CIBC, where she managed many of Western Canada’s largest accounts. After the 2001 acquisition of CIBC’s merchant card services division by Global Payments, she expanded her role to business development with a focus on major accounts. Sharon’s years of experience have provided her with an in-depth knowledge of the Canadian card processing system, including interchange pricing and the evolution of solutions in the marketplace.
Kevin is the Senior Vice President of Strategic Portfolio Management at Global Payments Canada and brings over 30 years of experience in the payments industry while leading sales and relationship management teams in Canada responsible for more than 40,000 merchants across the country. Kevin is currently a member of FINPAY. Initiated by the Canadian Government’s Finance Minister’s office, FINPAY is a forum of public and private sector representatives assembled to discuss industry level developments in the Canadian payments system.
Prior to joining Global Payments, Kevin spent 8 years with MasterCard Canada. He spent 5 years as the Head of Acceptance where Kevin sat on the MasterCard Advisory Board and was influential in the introduction and mass distribution of emerging new payments technology into Canada such as MC PayPass. Kevin was responsible for managing relationships with all Acquirers, as well as a number of major market influencing merchants in Canada.
