 An Update on Modernization

Please join AFP - Edmonton on October 18, 2018 at Yellowhead Brewery where Sue Whitney, Head of Product Management and Strategy for Payments Canada will provide an update on the Modernization of the Canadian Payment Industry and how it will be of benefit to Corporates.
Sue will discuss the launch of the third daily payment exchange window, faster posting times, progress on ISO 20022, and real-time rail. She will also dive into next initiatives and discuss how these will benefit corporations in the years to come.

Sue Whitney
Head, Product Management and Strategy, Payments Canada

As Head of Product Management and Strategy at Payments Canada, Sue is responsible for managing products and developing integrated strategies to meet industry and stakeholder needs and deliver on Payments Canada’s strategic direction. This includes providing a strategic framework for integrating existing core and modernized systems, and future release strategy for all Payments Canada core payment, clearing and settlement capabilities. Sue’s team will guide future decisions about product business requirements and business architecture and rules based on the input and requirements of
internal partners, members, users and regulators. Sue was previously Head of Industry Relations for Payments Canada.

Prior to Payments Canada, Sue led the strategy and design of new retail payment solutions for Visa in Canada for almost a decade. She also launched new products and solutions for the Interac Network, including the development of its chip card capabilities, and helped a major Canadian fintech company optimize software performance in fraud management and EMV processing. Sue is also a former regulator in payments, holding several executive roles in the Department of Finance in Ottawa.
