2019 Spring Series
AFP Edmonton is please to be able to offer two great events this spring for our Members. We highly encourage you to register for both events in this series of dynamic and engaging speakers.
First up, Jane Halford, FCA, ICD.D, will discuss Leading Transitions in Your Team on April 25th at the Yellowhead Brewery.
Then Dr. Kirby Wright, PhD, MBA, will engage us with his presentation on Design Thinking on May 21st at the Sutton Place Hotel, Winterlake Room.
Leading Transitions in Your Team
As a leader in your organization, how do you sustain momentum, productivity and
quality when team members join or leave? This session will provide you an
understanding of your role during team transitions and practical tools that will make
you more effective the next time someone arrives or departs your team or project.
Jane Halford, FCA, ICD.D

Jane has a profile of service built on a foundation personal and professional skill honed during her 25 years career as a Chartered Accountant, regulator, corporate director, entrepreneur, and volunteer.
Jane is actively involved in the community through her service to not-for-profit and corporate boards including the United Way, Farm Credit Canada, Alberta Innovates, Hyduke Energy Services, Delta Genomics Centre, and the Institute of Corporate Directors (Edmonton Chapter).
In 2013, Jane stepped out her role as CEO and Executive Director of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta to turn her passion into co-founding an innovative business, BOLT Transition Inc. BOLT is transforming how Canadian organizations approach leadership transition in the boardroom and the executive suite.
Design Thinking
Dr. Kirby Wright, President of KRW Knowledge Resources will discuss new ways of design thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills in your work. This presentation will engage you in developing innovative solutions to solve complex and dynamic issues.
Kirby Wright, PHD, MBA

Dr. Kirby Wright is President of KRW Knowledge Resources Inc., an applied research and consulting firm that focuses on professional learning, innovation and knowledge management.
He has over 25 years of experience in leadership development, workplace learning and continuing learning activities including developing e-learning initiatives and creating mobile learning applications. His work in knowledge management includes developing KM strategies, designing knowledge networks, supporting personal knowledge management and enhancing evidence-based decision making and practice. His practice in the area of innovation focuses on helping individuals and organizations strengthen their innovative capacities.
Previously, he was an Assistant Professor at the University of Alberta, working at the Faculty of Extension and School of Business. In addition to teaching and research, he was Co-Director, Academic Technologies for Learning; Director, Business Programs and Manager, Master of Business Administration Programs. He worked within the post-secondary education system in Saskatchewan where he was responsible for developing international education projects in 22 countries, primarily South East Asia.
Dr. Wright received his Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Alberta; Master of Business Administration at the University of Calgary and Bachelor of Arts (Honours), majoring in History and English, and Bachelor of Education from the University of Saskatchewan.
