Virtual Wine Tasting and AGM
AFP Edmonton will host our annual AGM to recap the past year, review our financial position, and elect members to the Board of Directors. Individuals interested in joining can complete this nomination form.
AFP Edmonton is also pleased to host an exciting and informative evening of wine tasting with special presenters Trina Plamondon and Maëlle Piquée. As a sequel to our popular 2019 event, this tasting will be paired with our Annual General Meeting. Tickets to attend are free for members and you are able to add wine packages to your ticket at a discounted price*.
Our hosts will walk us through the systematic approach to wine tasting: see, smell, and taste and also provide some lively Q&A. Members will be able to follow along and interact live with Trina and Maëlle as they taste test two great wines:
White: Quail's Gate Chasselas Blend
Red: Lake Breeze Meritage (Bordeaux-style blend)
If a member wishes to use their own favorite wine instead, they are welcome to follow along and to share any similarities or differences they observe!
Trina Plamondon is a WSET trained wine professional and the Founder of Oh Canada Market, an online marketplace for Canadian small businesses. After finishing her first wine course, she was bitten by the “wine bug” and has had the pleasure of studying and sampling wine from around the world over the last 5 years. Her favorite wines are made from grapes that are less known and, like her, they are unique and often surprising. One of her greatest joys is educating others about the simple aspects of wine in her group tastings and private events. You can catch her weekly column “Just Bizness” via her website.
Maëlle Piquée was born and raised in France and she moved to Canada in 2015 to pursue an MBA in International Business. She loves using her expertise in marketing and communications to bring positive change and help businesses and non-profit organizations thrive. Maëlle is a leader with the Rotary Club of Edmonton Urban Spirits, holds the Programming Chair position on the board of Net Impact Edmonton, an organization dedicated to using the tools of business to promote sustainability, and is also the Chief Marketing Officer and a core team member at JustCook Kitchens, which is bringing Edmonton its first food hall this summer!
In addition, being a true French stereotype, she loves sharing her knowledge and passion for wine - she's always happy to answer questions or give recommendations. Maëlle is an outgoing, energetic, and bright leader, so it is no wonder that her personality is a perfect match for her favorite wine, Champagne!
* Wine packages will include the wine and some paired tasting snacks. Wine will be available for pickup in the downtown Edmonton area from 2-4pm on June 12th and 13th, and from 5pm to 7pm on June 15th. Delivery can be arranged for a small fee.
