AFPC Edmonton is pleased to present Mark Parsons, Deputy Chief Economist at Alberta Treasury Board and Finance.

 

Mark and his team monitor economic conditions in Alberta and abroad, preparing the economic outlook for the annual provincial budget and quarterly fiscal updates.

 

Prior to joining the Alberta Government in November 2011, Mark worked as a senior economic consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), advising a wide range of private and public sector clients.  Mark was also an economist with the federal Department of Finance in Ottawa, specializing in tax policy and economic forecasting. 

 

In September 2011, Mark published the CD Howe Commentary “Rewarding Innovation: Improving federal tax support for business R&D in Canada” and was co-recipient of the John Vanderkamp Prize for best paper in the Canadian Public Policy journal in 2006.

 

Mark holds an MA economics from the University of Alberta.
