AFPC Edmonton is pleased to present Darlene Kowalchuk, Campaign Director with The Christmas Bureau of Edmonton. Founded in 1940, the Christmas Bureau is one of Edmonton’s longest serving non-profit organizations. Each year all of Edmonton comes together to ensure that the least fortunate in our community receive a festive food hamper. Through individual and corporate donations, we are able to provide for more than 65,000 Edmontonians in need. They will be launching their 73rd annual campaign in just a few weeks with a goal of $1.8 million to provide over 70,000 less fortunate Edmontonians with a festive meal.
The tradition of sharing continues. Non-denominational and accessible to all, the Christmas Bureau works closely with a number of other organizations to ensure that the money we raise is used effectively without duplication of service. While the process of determining a person’s eligibility is a thorough one, it is marked by a spirit of compassion and generosity, respecting his or her dignity, integrity, confidentiality and rights. The Bureau is a registered non-profit society governed by a board of directors and administered by a small staff employed for a portion of the year
AFPC Edmonton will be hosting a Silent Auction at the December 9 breakfast. All proceeds will be donated to The Christmas Bureau of Edmonton. If you have any auction items, please contact Kristy Spurrell kristy.spurrell@stantec.com.
